MMCPS Dissemination Practices

FY 2001

  • MMCPS shared practices with the community through student exhibitions of work during Quality Nights, Open House events and Jury Days and through our “open door” policy. MMCPS continues these practices to this day.
  • The MMCPS web site received an update which featured many examples of teaching practice and systems used within the school.

FY 2002

  • MMCPS shared its best practices through a paper entitled, A Community Calls for Education Reform at the Middle School Level, written by teacher, Sasha Douglas and Director, Walter Landberg and funded by the Massachsetts Charter School Association (MCSA)

 

FY 2003

  • MMCPS received a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Education that funded a week long summer professional development program for teachers from outside of Murdoch by MMCPS teachers. Additionally, MMCPS began developing a series of interactive DVDs documenting the project based curriculum practices at the school for dissemination.

 

FY 2004

  • MMCPS received further funding from the DOE to complete the Professional Development Training Interactive DVDs for distribution throughout schools in Massachusetts.
  • MMCPS receives a two year funding grant from the MCSA to pay for the “consultant” training of two teachers to share the MMCPS project based teaching style with other public schools. MMCPS teachers present at the yearly MCSA teacher conference and in public schools in Massachusetts.
  • MMCPS begins its tenure as the host school for the Massachusetts Charter School Technology Leaders Network (MCSTLN), of which 30 charter schools are members.
  • MMCPS develops a relationship with the New Teachers Collaborative (NTC) educator training program, based at the F.W. Parker Charter Essential school, by hosting two collaborating teachers who receive certification to teach in Massachusetts by the end of the school year. One of the teachers stayed at Murdoch and one of the teachers went on to teach in a non-charter Massachusetts public school.

FY 2005

  • MMCPS Director mentors a staff member in receiving a principal certification partnering with UMASS Lowell.
  • MMCPS develops the “Murdoch Morning”, a monthly information session and coffee hour, in a small intimate setting, hosting and educating over 75 members of the external community throughout the school year.
  • MMCPS continues its relationship with the NTC by hosting one collaborating teacher.
  • MMCPS hosts a fundraising breakfast for over 150 community members, highlighting its successes and raises over $45,000 for school operations.
