Students at Innovation Academy are required to maintain portfolios of their work. This working portfolio is stored in student's homebase classrooms. After two years, all students will have compiled a portfolio that reflects their learning at either 5/6 or 7/8 level. Portfolios will be reviewed by a team of assessors. The team of assessors will be made up of the following:
- 1 administrator (director, assistant director, area leadership team member, technology director)
- 1 board member
- 1 community member (parent or member of community at large
- 1 teacher (from other grade level)
Each assessor will give their opinion as to whether the student has met the standards for each section of the portfolio and whether the student has made significant progress in their work so as to move on to the next level. Students who do not meet the standards in two or more sections of their portfolio may be considered for retention or another appropriate remediation.
